GRANITE CITY, Ill. (KMOV) -- A woman is in custody after police found 30 neglected pets inside her Granite City home on Thursday.

Lisa Welborn, 56, was charged with animal cruelty.

Police said they went to Welborn’s home in the 2500 block of Roney Drive around 9:20 a.m. after getting reports of a natural gas odor.

Authorities said when they arrived, officers found 25 dogs and five cats inside Welborn’s house. Police said animal feces and urine was scattered throughout the home.

Authorities said they later discovered none of the animals had their proper vaccinations.

Officials also said the house was unfit for occupancy and shut off the electricity and gas to the home.

Welborn was transported to the Madison County Jail and held on a $100 cash-only bond.
