(KMOV) – Police reports indicate the husband and wife at the center of a homicide in Country Life Acres had a troubled relationship leading up to the man’s death.

Police haven’t released their report from the night Ike Mullenix was stabbed to death and haven’t said what allegedly drove his wife Mary Ann to do it.

But News 4 has learned Town and Country police made several visits to the Mullenix home over the last few years.

Police reports obtained by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch indicate the couple had a tumultuous and -at times- violent relationship.

It all came to a head July 17 when authorities were called to the family’s home in the 14 block of Country Life Acres just before midnight by the Mullenix’s son. He told police his mother had stabbed his father.

But a track record of trouble dates back to 2009.

In August, 2012, Mary Ann alleged her husband choked her in a rage and threw her to the floor of their bedroom. He claimed she hit him in the face with an eight-pound dumbbell. Police said Mary Ann was irrational when they arrived on scene.

On New Year’s Eve 2012, police responded to the home after a drunk Ike Mullenix fell, re-injuring his broken back.

While police have yet to detail what happened inside the—Mary Ann Mullenix faces charges of second-degree murder, armed criminal action and tampering with physical evidence.

Country Life Acres, incorporated in 1949, has about 70 residents. It’s located west of Interstate 270 and near Des Peres and Clayton roads.

A $500,000 bond for Mary Mullenix has been issued.
