ELLISVILLE (KMOV.com) – A well known religious school went on lockdown Thursday due to a threat.

The St. John Lutheran School went on lockdown around the time school was ending after school officials say they received what they are calling a perceived threat. Students were then ushered to safe place.

The school and church buildings were searched by police and are considered to be safe. Administrators did not give any details about the threat but said they are not taking any chances. School will be closed on Friday.

While we operate on a foundation of faith here and we pray for the best we also know that we can live in a dangerous world. Due to that factor, that our leadership team made the decision to close the school tomorrow,” administrator Carol Wyatt said. “It was to be their last day before Christmas break so we've closed the school tomorrow to give everyone a peace of mind."
