(KMOV) – Wentzville Police Department officers will now wear body cameras as part of their personal equipment while on the job.
The department’s 36 patrol officers will wear the camera and department officials say these costs less that patrol vehicle cameras.
Since the cameras were first brought on board in late 2012, Wentzville Police say they’ve seen no substantiated officer complaints.
"it's good for transparency, for the police department ...to show that we're doing our job in a professional manner. It' holds us accountable for our actions,” said Emmanuel Borroum of the Wentzville Police Department.
The cameras can record up to six hours at a time. Wentzville Police say it’s one of twenty department s nationwide using this new law enforcement technology.
