(KMOV) – Attention all brides: if you’re hiring a disc jockey for your reception, this is a story you need to read.

A St. Charles woman says she’s living a nightmare just days before her wedding, and she’s not the only one.

Just Google the words “A Solid Gold Sound,” and red flags go up. Ripoff Report’s website lists consumer complaints about the company.

One person writes they used to work for the company, and customers are lucky if a deejay shows up.

Kristi During met them at a Chesterfield wedding show, and says she booked them more than a year ago. Everything seemed great up until a week ago, she says.

After paying more than $500, she called to talk about what songs she wanted to hear at her wedding this Saturday.

She discovered the company’s website was unavailable, and its phone number no longer worked. She says her mother went to what she thought was its business address only to discover  a UPS store in a Maryland Heights strip mall instead.

Dan Sims runs Complete Music in Creve Coeur. His company jumped in to help, and he says During isn’t alone. Four brides have already called him since they can’t reach A Solid Gold Sound. He says the company has had a questionable track record for years.

“I believe this is the third time this company has done this. They come to town here for a period of time, [and] next thing you know they are gone and take people’s money,” he says.

According to the Missouri Secretary of State’s office, the company is based in Kentucky, but its business name registration with the state expired last year.
