BRIDGETON, Mo. (KMOV) – It is hard to forget the images of the EF-4 tornado that tore through Lambert Airport last year. Some residents still are not back in their homes almost a year later and weather experts are predicting another active tornado season.
“We are coming out of a La Nina this year,” News 4 Chief Meteorologist Steve Templeton said. “We did that last year as well, but it was a much stronger La Nina and then another critical piece of the puzzle is we have warmer than normal water temperatures in the Gulf of Mexico so that really helps fuel stronger storms.”
Steve Templeton says the difference from last year is that we were coming out of a much stronger La Nina.
Last year was the fourth most deadliest year for tornadoes in the United States.
