WASHINGTON PARK, Ill. (AP) -- A former trustee in southwestern Illinois’ Washington Park who’s serving five years of probation for health care fraud is back on the village’s payroll.
The Belleville News-Democrat reports 39-year-old Darron Suggs was hired last month by the village’s board as an administrative aide to Mayor Ann Rodgers. Suggs will earn $600 a week.
Suggs was a trustee who resigned just days before he pleaded guilty last November to charges that he filed fraudulent Medicaid bills on behalf of two people receiving federal aid for home health care. He falsely claimed he acted as their personal health care assistant for seven years beginning in 2006.
Suggs was sentenced in April to five years of probation and ordered to repay nearly $65,000.
A message Tuesday for Rodgers was not immediately returned.
