Wash U economics professor weighs in on Hostess closing, unions in today's America

ST. LOUIS (KMOV) – The battle between Hostess and its unions had been long drawn out before the company announced Friday it was going out of business.

Hostess, founded in 1930, had been dealing with high pension, wage and medical costs related to its unionized workforce.

News 4 talked to Washington University Economics Professor Glenn MacDonald to ask if other unions should be concerned about the changing landscape when it comes to losing their power when dealing with companies.
