Video gambling was promised to be a way for the state of Illinois and local governments to make money in tough economic times, and it turns out it’s worked so far.
Video gambling machines have only been in place for a few months and they’re already getting rave reviews.
Revenue for the state was up 57 percent from Nov. to Dec. Local Metro East establishments are pleased with the income.
“The county’s making, made $1,500 off of me, the state made $8,000. (I’m) fortunate to have a good month in December,” said Marty Poepping of The Hut Sports Bar and Grill
Illinois estimates that video gambling will eventually bring in $375 million a year for state government.
