(KMOV) – A south St. Louis woman and her dog are recovering from injuries after a pack of four canines attacked them on Friday.

Kristen Collins says she still has scars stemming from the vicious attack near Pernod and Watson that left her 10-year-old dog with more than 80 puncture words.

“They jumped on (Scout) from the back and maybe one or two got her and I tried dragging her, then the others came and knocked her down to the ground,” Collins recalled.

Collins says she has heard nothing from the dogs’ owners.

“We can’t find them and it’s an open investigation right now with animal control,” she said.

Collins says she wants the owners to cover veterinarian bills for her dog, Scout, but she’s also concerned about the health of the dogs that bit her.

“We don’t know if those dogs had rabies, so if they aren’t quarantined then I’m going to have to go through whatever for rabies, which I think is a series of shots,” she said.
