Victim identified in motorcycle crash in downtown St. Louis Thursday

(KMOV.com) – The driver in an accident involving a motorcycle was pronounced dead Friday at a local hospital. 

The driver of the motorcycle has been identified as Dwight Young, Jr., 25, of the 1900 block of Valerie Drive. 
 
The crash happened around 11:30 p.m. Thursday at Washington and Broadway. Police say a motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed on N. Broadway when it struck the side of a car as it entered the intersection against the red light. 
 
Police say both passengers were thrown from the motorcycle. The driver was taken to a hospital in critical/unstable condition. The passenger, a 26-year-old woman, was also taken to a hospital and is listed in serious/stable condition.
 
Officials say the 48-year-old driver of the car refused medical treatment. 
 
The investigation is ongoing.
