(KMOV.com) -- St. Louis police have identified the victim of a fatal stabbing on Laclede's Landing early Sunday morning.
Kyle Roberts, 28, of Sorento, Ill. was stabbed in the neck outside of a bar in the 100 block of Laclede's Landing Blvd. around 2 a.m.
Witnesses at the scene told police that Roberts came out of the bar around closing time, then became engaged in a verbal dispute with another man. Roberts was stabbed once and collapsed on the ground. The victim was taken to an area hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Authorities say the suspect fled the scene before officers arrived. Witnesses described the suspect as a black male in his early to mid 20's with light complexion.
A police investigation into the stabbing is ongoing.
The fatal stabbing happened less than 24 hours after a shooting left a man in critical condition on Laclede's Landing. Police have not said whether patrols will increase in light of the violent crimes.
"It's interesting that both incidents happened at closing time," said Lt. Col. Lawrence O'Toole. "So there are a lot of factors that are similar for both evenings, and those are the things we'll be looking at."
