(KMOV.com) – After an outcry, University City officials decided to scrap a plan that would not allow the public to comment at city council meetings.

Residents packed city hall for a 5:30 p.m. meeting where those with strong opinions brought in signs. One person even stood up and pledged $5,000 to a recall effort against University Mayor Shelley Welsch.

The city council elected to not adopt the proposed rule change, but they could be brought up again at a later time.
