(KMOV) – Thursday marks deadline day for students to request transfers out of the unaccredited Normandy and Riverview Gardens school districts.
The deadline comes a day after the Francis Howell School District announced it will accept all of the 425 students requesting transfers from the unaccredited Normandy School District. That number may grow as parents have until the end of the day to apply for their students to transfer there.
As it stands, 2,256 students have applied to leave both districts. That’s just over 1,000 from Normandy and over 1,200 from Riverview.
If the number of students applying to any one district exceeds space available, a lottery will be held on Friday.
By Monday, parents should be called and told where their children will attend school this fall.
It appears Riverview families will be the more affected of the two area unaccredited districts. Mehlville and Kirkwood districts were chosen to receive Riverview transfers, and both districts have already said they have limited space.
