(KMOV) -- The University of Missouri system is recommending to raise tuition and fees by 5.8 percent at the University of Missouri.
This will be a $488 annual increase for University of Missouri's resident undergraduate students.
Nicki Krawitz, Vice President of Finance and Administration, said the System stands to sacrifice quality if it does not implement this increase.
"The average cost to the student is going up," Krawitz said. "There is no doubt about that."
The fee is broken into tuition and related fees. Tuition is recommended to raise 6.5 percent at MU and Missouri University of Science and Technology. University of Missouri-St. Louis and University of Missouri-Kansas City are recommended to increase at 5 percent. The required fees are recommended to raise at 1.1 percent.
