(KMOV) -- A 9-year-old boy was apparently shot in the back accidentally by a 10-year-old sibling Monday afternoon at a north St. Louis County home, on the 5500 block of Albia Terrace in Jennings. He is in stable condition.
A family member says the parents of the 10 and 9-year-old boys left the home to run an errand when the 10-year-old found a loaded weapon in the home and accidently shot the 9-year-old in the back.
The 10-year-old then placed the 9-year-old into a bathtub to try to clean up the blood.
The family member says the parents returned home and quickly called 911.
Police got the call around 1:30 p.m.
The injured boy was rushed to Children's Hospital and has been stablilized. The young victim was reportedly conscious and breathing when emergency personnel arrived on the scene.
