(KMOV.com) – Police say two St. Charles officers who responded to a robbery at a Steak ‘N Shake restaurant were injured when they were hit by vehicle driven by the fleeing suspects early Wednesday morning.

According to St. Charles Police, Seth Thompson, 18, and Joshua Stone, 18, armed with handguns entered the Steak ‘N Shake on First Capitol Drive just before 4 a.m.

Police reported one employee hid and called St. Charles police while another called authorities after running from the restaurant as the robbery was announced.

The two suspects allegedly demanded cash from the registers. They then bolted out the back of the restaurant.

St. Charles Police Sgt. Wilkerson said Stone drove the getaway vehicle into two officers before being arrested.

One officer was taken to the hospital and the other was treated at the scene.

St. Charles Police charged Thompson and Stone with first degree robbery and armed criminal action. Joshua Stone was also charged with assaulting a law enforcement officer after he rammed his vehicle into two St. Charles City patrol cars.

Bond has not been set at this time.
