(KMOV.com) – Emergency crews responded to a crash in Jefferson County that could have created an explosive situation as a pick-up truck hit the trailer of an asphalt truck.

Authorities said the collision dented one propane tank on the trailer and sent the other one sailing through the air and into a car. If the tanks had ruptured, it could have created a hazmat situation.

“It’s propane, so it stays low to the ground,” said High Ridge Fire Chief Michael Arnhart, “If there has been a fire, it would have been a very engulfed, large area that would have been involved.”

No one was seriously injured in the accident, but traffic was slowed down significantly until the accident was cleaned up.

The accident happened at the intersection of Highway 30 and Little Brennan Road.
