(KMOV) – Blustery winds wrecked havoc on the St. Louis area Thursday, knocking over hundreds of trees and leaving at least one resident without a car.
One of those trees crushed a vehicle in the 4800 block of Austrie Ave. in south St. Louis, some of the street as it came down.
The owner of the vehicle told News 4 he was inside his home when the tree came down just before 3 p.m. Thursday. He came outside and saw his totaled car. He said the tree also hit part of his work van.
The tree remained on the vehicle Friday morning.
There were nearly 35,000 homes without power in Missouri and Illinois at one point on Thursday due to high winds knocking down power lines.
