(KMOV) – Police say they believe a Town and Country alderman has been using untraceable email accounts and threatening violence against a fellow alderman.
Alderman David Karney is accused of using five different aliases to send emails, posing as someone else to disguise his own views about the well-known deer population problem.
An email sent under the name Jeff Storehouse was traced back to Karney’s computer. It threatened violence against fellow Alderman Fred Meyland-Smith.
The email reads, “You should be ashamed of yourself. The deer are what make Town and Country such a nice place to live. It’s aldermen like you who should be shot.”
The mayor immediately went to police, who then got a subpoena to trace who it came from.
Karney publicly apologized and said it was someone else who used his computer to send the email. He will not say who.
