ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -- It was a deadly weekend in St. Louis, as police investigate four homicides happening over a 48-hour span.

On Saturday morning, officers responded to reports of an unresponsive person in the 5500 block of Patridge. Upon arrival, police found a victim dead from apparent gunshot wounds. Later on Saturday, police were called to Sherry Avenue after a man was found shot and killed in an alley.

Then on Sunday, officers discovered a man dead inside his car near the intersection of Riverview and Broadway.

Alderman Antonio French says more police are needed to keep residents safe in the city's most dangerous neighborhoods.

"Right now we're operating under a budget in the city that has 100 less officers than the previous year," French said. "We need more police on the street -- and more police patrolling our community."

Alderman French installed 20 cameras in his area of north St. Louis City. Since the cameras have gone up, French says homicides have decreased nearly 80 percent.

"These cameras are an unafraid witness that records 24 hours a day," French said. "We would like to see the camera system city-wide, especially in violent areas in the city, because it really does help."

Police say in the three most recent homicides, no suspects have been captured.
