Heartless thieves may have stolen a season from an area girls’ softball organization.

Officials with the Sullivan Girls Softball Association say someone broke into their storage unit over the winter and took over $3,000 worth of equipment for all their teams.

Items taken included bats, helmets, balls and catchers gear.  The Franklin County Sheriff’s Department is investigating.

“This is a non-profit organization and we go year-to-year on our funds,” said coach Kristi Wheeler.

Over 300 girls play with the SGSA every spring and fall. Officials are hoping to save this season with public donations.

Anyone willing to help can do so by emailing SullivanSoftball@gmail.com. Donations can also be made to SGSA at the Bank of Sullivan.
