ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – Police have identifed a teenager who was shot to death Wednesday night on a north St. Louis street.

Authorities said the shooting happened near the intersection of 20th and Mullanphy streets around 10 p.m.

When officers arrived on the scene, they found Demetrius Cortez Jackson, 17, unresponsive with multiple gunshot wounds.

Emergency crews arrived, but were not able to resuscitate Jackson.  He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Witnesses told police they saw the suspect shoot Jackson multiple times before running from the scene.

The suspect has been described as a black male in his teens, approximately 130 pounds and 5-fee-5-inches tall.

The suspect was last seen wearing white basketball shorts and a white t-shirt.

Homicide investigators are now handing the case.

Anyone with further information about this shooting is asked to call authorities.
