(KMOV) -- Taxi cab drivers all over the city are showing their spirit by sporting St. Louis Blues jerseys, jackets and hats. But one driver says all the blue is a big slap in the face.
Raja Naeem is suing the Metropolitan Taxi Commission for violating his right to practice his religion.
As a Muslim, he wants to wear traditional religious garb, instead of the mandated uniform.
But when he found out that the rules were being loosened to allow cabbies to wear Blues gear, he told News 4, it made things much worse.
“I think this is a Constitutional Right I have, as opposed to the sports team, and don’t get me wrong, I have nothing against the teams, I love the Blues and the Cardinals, I love those guys but on this point, I disagree,” Naeem said.
The commission says it’s tried to work with Naeem but he’s refused to compromise.
It says it will defend its position in court.
