(KMOV) – For the second time in less than a week, murders charges have been filed involving a cold case in St. Clair County.
George Bricking, 53, was charged Thursday morning with first-degree murder after being arrested at his workplace, Holten Meats in Cahokia.
Bricking is accused of murdering Christine Foster on May 20, 1995.
According to court documents, Foster was found in a drainage ditch by a man walking his dog on Dutch Hollow Rd. off Illinois 161 near Belleville.
Bricking, who was the last one seen with Foster, was initially arrested in her murder, but a grand jury declined to indict him twice.
Police issued a search warrant last year and Bricking’s mother gave police a receipt for a ring that was found in Foster’s hand the night of her death. She said it belonged to Bricking and police said they used it to test for DNA.
It was the second time in less than a week DNA was used to crack a cold case in St. Clair County.
Carlos Garrett was arrested Friday in connection with the murder of Nicole Willis, whose partly clothed body was found near her Centreville home on Oct. 4, 1989.
A press conference was expected to be held to announce both arrests Thursday afternoon.
Bricking was in custody Thursday on a $1 million bail.
