(KMOV) – St. Louis police are searching for thieves who stole items from a Central West End business after apparently using a truck to ram the cinder-block back of the store.
Authorities said officers responded to an alarm sounding at the Radio Shack in the 4100 block of Lindell Boulevard around 5:30 a.m. Tuesday
Upon their arrival, they found a massive hole in the rear brick wall of the building and debris scattered on the ground.
According to police, the thieves stole several flat-screen televisions and laptop computers totaling more than $1,000 in value.
Police said 2003 Dodge Ram pickup truck used in the incident was found abandoned in the 440 block of N. Sarah. Authorities said it had been reported stolen out of Illinois.
Employees at the scene indicated the damage to the store would cost more to fix than to replace what was stolen.
The incident marks the latest of several smash-and-grab robberies that have happened in the St. Louis area over the past few weeks.
Anyone with information on the crime is asked to call CrimeStoppers at (866)-371-TIPS.
