Police: Thieves crash SUV into north St. Louis Rent-A-Center, take items

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV) –Police are searching for two men who drove an SUV through the back door of a north St. Louis Rent-A-Center store and stole merchandise.

The call came in just after 3 a.m. for a break-in at the Rent-A-Center in the 4300 block of Natural Bridge at Newstead after a witness saw a black SUV back into the rear door of the building.

Police say a second suspect got out of a grey SUV and ran into the store along with the first suspect.

Authorities believe the suspects fled when the security alarm sounded. Officers reportedly arrived moments later. Witnesses told police the suspects drove from the scene heading north on Newstead in the SUV.

Store officials were still trying to determine what was taken.

The extent of the damage to the building has not been determined.

No suspect descriptions were given.
