ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) -- St Louis police say they may have a man wanted by Berkeley Police for assaulting an officer in custody.

Police initially approached the suspect in  his vehicle in regards to a Narcotics Investigation at the 8300 block of Fairbanks.

The 36-year-old male driver of a Chevy Tahoe then reportedly ran over an officer’s foot with his vehicle.  He also struck the passenger side of the police vehicle. Police then chased the SUV to the city.

As the vehicle continued the suspect attempted to strike a marked police vehicle at the intersection of Airport Road and Fay D.

Police continued to pursue the suspect and lost sight of the vehicle once the SUV entered the city.

Police say a police officer spotted the white SUV and followed it to 2600 block of Allen. Police tell News  4,  the suspect’s girlfriend lived on Allen Road, which is a dead end.

According to police, the driver stopped and parked the SUV. Police were then able to cuff him and take him into custody.

No one else was in the vehicle.
