Reward offered for arrest in East St. Louis teen's shooting death

(KMOV.com) – Police continue to search for a suspect who killed a 19-year-old man in East St. Louis on Saturday.

Police say Derundrae Smith went out to a restaurant to pick up food for his grandmother around 2:30 p.m. when someone began firing shots. Smith tried to run, but was hit in the back.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The murder came in the middle of a city campaign calling for 40 days of non-violence in East St. Louis.

It was the city’s first homicide of 2014.

Authorities are offering a reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction of those responsible for Smith's death.
