ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -- Authorities say a man who was already on probation lead police on a chase down Interstate 70, after police tried to pull him over for a routine traffice stop Friday night.

Pine Lawn Police say they tried to stop a vehicle around midnight near Jennings Station and I-70. Officials say Terry did not stop until he got to I-70 and Hanley.

Steven Terry, 29, was charged with driving while intoxicated (DWI) and unlawful possession of a firearm.

During the chase, officers say they spotted Terry throwing something out of his window near Bermuda. Police shutdown the highway for almost an hour as they searched Terry's vehicle.

Officers reportedly found drugs and a semi-automatic handgun as a result of the search.

Terry was on probation at the time of the pursuit, and was wearing an ankle monitor.

Terry's bond has been set at $25,000.
