ST. LOUIS (KMOV) – Police are searching for a suspect who shot at two officers after a traffic stop in north St. Louis early Tuesday morning.

Police said two officers were in the 4900 block of Ashby around 12:30 a.m. when they spotted a suspicious vehicle that was parked and running.

Authorities said as the officers approached the vehicle, the driver suddenly got out of the car with a gun in his hand and began running north.

The suspect tripped and pointed a gun at the officers and fired while getting up off the ground.

Police said the officers then returned fire but missed the suspect, who dropped his pistol and run.

A loaded .45 Glock was recovered at the scene.

The suspect remains at large.
