(KMOV) -- Two men were injured in a fiery car accident in Franklin County, Missouri and a Sullivan teen is being credited as a hero.

The crash happened around 7:45 p.m. on Sunday on Highway 100 at Thiebes Road in Gray Summit, Missouri.

According to the Missouri Highway Patrol, David Beagle, 46, of Pacific, Missouri was driving his vehicle westbound on Highway 100. Authorities say Beagle was driving too fast and lost control of the car.

The car then slid off the road, overturned and eventually caught fire.

Beagle was taken to a local hospital with moderate injuries. Jason Cipponeri, 37, of Union, Missouri was a passenger in the car. Cipponeri was airlifted to a local hospital.

Ben Britton did the only thing that came to his mind as he saw the burning car along Highway 100 in Gray Summit on Sunday. He stopped and helped a man who was trapped.

Britton, 18, used all of the muscle that earned him a place on the Lindenwood University football team as an offensive lineman this fall to free the man and drag him to safety.

Ben’s quick actions went far in saving a life, but the big kid from Sullivan says he doesn’t feel like a hero. “I feel like, ‘What am I supposed to do?’ It’s what I’m supposed to do, so I did it.”
