(KMOV) – Temperatures are expected to drop after a series of storms that rolled through the St. Louis area leaves the region on Wednesday.

“Scattered storms - some briefly heavy - moved through the viewing area from northwest to southeast,” said News 4 Meteorologist Kent Ehrhardt.

Ehrhardt said the storms bring the threat of strong winds and heavy lightning.

“These storms contain frequent lightning and heavy rain,” he said. “There is the potential for string wind gusts with some of these storms.”

Another few storms are predicted to pop up around lunchtime in St. Louis before moving south.

“This will be a brief window for a strong storm, then the storm threat will be south of our area by late afternoon and the evening,” Ehrhardt said.

After the storms move out, temperatures are expected to drop with less humid conditions.

Looking ahead, Thursday is set to be a great summer day with sunny conditions and temperatures in the mid-80s.
