A St. Peters alderman faces charges after he was allegedly caught having marijuana in his home on Aug. 7.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports Tommy Roberts was charged Wednesday with misdemeanor marijuana.

Authorities said officers found marijuana and paraphernalia on a table when they were called to his home in the 1100 block of Spencer Rd.

Roberts told the paper the marijuana was for a medical issue. He said he had Hodgkin's Lymphoma last year.

Roberts has been a St. Peters 3rd Ward alderman since 2008.
