St. Louis (KMOV.com) – A St. Louis teacher is facing charges for allegedly raping one of his 14-year-old students and then threatening to kill her family if she told anyone about the attacks.

Ronald Wilkerson, 41, faces eight felony charges that include rape, sodomy and tampering with witnesses. The charges are related to two incidents that allegedly took place last month in the 1200 block of North Euclid, the neighborhood where Wilkerson lives.

Wilkerson taught Communication Arts at the Imagine Academy.  Prosecutors confirm that the victim was a student in one of his classes.

According to court records, investigators say Wilkerson told the victim that if she told anyone what he had done to her that he would injure or kill members of her family.

News 4's Lindsay Bramson searched state records on Wilkerson and found that he is certified as a substitute teacher.  He passed a background check in September of 2011 and was issued a certificate that is valid until 2015.

News 4 found that Wilkerson was listed as teacher at the Confluence Academy in St. Louis for the 2008-09 school year.  A spokesperson for Imagine Schools out of Arlington, Virginia tells News 4 that Wilkerson taught at Imagine Academy in the second semester of the 2011-12 school year.

The Missouri State Education Board moved to shut down three Imagine Academy charter schools over the summer due to “poor academic performance and fiscal management.”

Wilkerson is being held on $100,000 cash-only bond.
