ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – St. Louis police held a conference after two Bevo Mill residents were sexually assaulted in their home a day apart.

In both incidents, a male suspect entered through an unsecure back door to the home. The victims discovered an ongoing burglary in both cases, at which point the suspect demanded money and sexually assaulted them. The suspect in each incident had the same description.

One assault occurred on Walsh Street the other on Delor. Police would not specify which incident happened first. The victims were an adult female and a teenage female.

The suspect is described as a white male in his late teens to early 20s. He has short brown hair, medium build, and may have facial hair. In both cases he displayed a knife.

The St. Louis Metropolitan Detective Bureau and the St. Louis Sex Crimes Unit are both working the cases.

Police say patrols will be added to the neighborhood, along with officers going door to door to talk to residents.

Authorities are also alerting businesses and residents in the Bevo Mill area about the incidents; cautioning residents to lock their doors and windows, and report anything suspicious.

Police are not saying what was stolen or anything about evidence in either case. Anyone with information should call Crimestoppers at 1-866-371-TIPS.
