(KMOV) – St. Louis police on Wednesday were taking a pro-active approach to crime in the latest of their hot-spot policing efforts.
Officers ramped up patrols in the Fountain Park and Louis Place neighborhoods.
Police Chief Sam Dotson told News 4 the hot-spot policing will focus on cracking down on drug and gun crimes as well as robberies and assaults.
But it’s also about developing a stronger community relationship.
“It’s not just about enforcement,” Dotson said. “It’s about talking to the neighbors…so it’s really a collaboration.”
The hot-spot policing will include uniformed and undercover officers and SWAT members.
They’ll be patrolling 16 hours a day for the next week.
