ST. LOUIS (KMOV) – An 18-year-old man who was charged in connection to the murder of a 58-year-old man in south St. Louis on May 9 went to prison on Friday where he will remain for 15 years.

Rico R. Paul, of the 3500 block of Bamburger was charged with first degree murder, armed criminal action and first degree attempted burglary.  Paul is currently held without bond.

Authorities said Paul Reiter was found in the 5000 block of Idaho around 7:30 p.m. Monday night. The medical examiner says Reiter suffered at least one gunshot wound.

Investigators believe Reiter was shot by suspects who were attempting to burglarize the home next door.

Officials are working to identify a second suspect in the crime.

Reiter served as circulation manager for the St. Louis American newspaper for the last 22 years. He leaves behind seven siblings as well as a son who is a student at St. Louis University.

The arrest of Paul came after a team of 30 detectives worked nonstop to track down leads following a string of violence in south St. Louis Monday night.

In an area not too far away from the burglary and murder, two women were held at gunpoint while their home was robbed. This happened in the 200 block of Steins. Police say the two crimes are related.
