(KMOV.com) – A 22-year-old man was killed when he lost control of his vehicle and left the roadway Sunday morning.

The accident happened around 10:11 a.m. in the 1500 block of Union Road in south St. Louis County, west of Lemay, Missouri.

The driver has been identified as Major Hunter III, from St. Louis. According to reports, witnesses told police Hunter’s vehicle as traveling at a high rate of speed when it went out of control, struck a metal sign pole, an unoccupied vehicle and a tree.

Hunter was taken by ambulance to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Investigators have not yet determined what caused Hunter to lose control. They said Hunter was not wearing a seat belt during the crash.
