ST. LOUIS—A St. Louis group that wants two school systems to accept more transfer students from unaccredited districts says it will decide by Thursday whether to seek legal action in the case.

A written statement from the Children’s Education Alliance of Missouri cites its “good-faith hope” to avert a lawsuit.

The group says both the Kirkwood and Mehlville school districts in St. Louis County have worked to help “identify a solution that is in the best interest of all kids” since being warned earlier this month of a possible lawsuit.

Both districts cited class size limits in turning away students from Riverview Gardens, one of two county school systems whose students can now go elsewhere after a June state Supreme Court ruling upholding such moves.
