WARRENTON, Mo. -- An eastern Missouri lawyer-turned-businessman who is charged with robbing a bank at gunpoint and wounding a state trooper is having trouble finding his own lawyer.
Sixty-four-year-old Warren Gladders, of Wentzville, is accused of robbing a Dutzow bank on Sept. 20 and shooting a pursuing Missouri Highway Patrol officer. Gladders was also shot during the attempted getaway.
Gladders made a brief first appearance in Warren County Circuit Court Tuesday morning but told a judge his attorney stepped down due to a conflict. The judge reset the hearing for November.
Authorities have identified Gladders as a suspect in other area bank robberies. The Missouri Bar says he asked last year to have his license classified as inactive. He is now president of a small laundry equipment repair company.
