(KMOV) – Communities all over the St. Louis area will take part in a nationwide event designed to deter crime and bring neighborhoods together Tuesday.
National Night Out promotes crime prevention which is especially important for some local communities dealing with a string of violent crime.
Last month, an 11-year-old boy was shot in Gravois Park in south St. Louis. News 4 spoke with community leaders there who say they have planned several events for National Night Out.
The City of St. Louis reports a total of 94 organized events. Several other communities outside the city are also participating including: Overland, Charlack, Jefferson County, and Florissant.
