(KMOV) -- A Bel-Ridge man is accused of beating his 10-year-old child with an extension cord for misbehaving in school earlier this year.

Jai Lucious, 34, was charged Aug. 21 with abuse or neglect of a child.

According to court documents, witnesses called police after hearing screams coming from Lucious’ house in the 8900 block of Torchlamp Ln. on Jan. 15.

Officers went to the home and found the victim crying on the couch and barely able to walk or stand.

Authorities said Lucious admitted to “whooping the victim with an extension cord for bad behavior in school.”

The victim was taken to the hospital and treated for abrasions and bruises all over his body.

Lucious was arrested and taken into custody on a $25,000 bond.
