ST. LOUIS COUNTY (KMOV) – St. Louis County Police Chief Tim Fitch says he’s exploring the possibility of letting voters decide if speed cameras should be legal.
Fitch is looking for a legal opinion from the county on a proposition that would change the county charter.
Over 10 municipalities in the county currently have the speed cameras. Fitch says most of those cities are only using the cameras to generate revenue from fines.
If the St. Louis County Council takes up the idea and approves the proposition could be on the ballot in April.
