CLAYTON, Mo. -- St. Louis County police will dispatch more officers to county movie theaters to reassure concerned patrons after the Colorado theater shooting.

Police spokesman Rick Eckhart says officers will be patrolling near the theaters to watch for any suspicious activity.

The announcement comes hours after a gunman opened fire Friday at an Aurora, Colo., movie theater, killing 12 people and wounding dozens more.

Eckhart says no threats have been reported at county theaters and there is no apparent St. Louis connection to the Colorado shootings.

Eckhart says if something were to happen, officers have recently received training on how to handle such situations.
