PHELPS COUNTY, Mo. (KMOV.com) -- A St. James woman who was hit by a vehicle while jogging early Sunday morning has died from her injuries.

Lisa Persicke, 44, was struck on Old Highway 66 near County Road 2290 between 5 and 6:30 a.m. Police say the suspect vehicle fled the scene after the accident.

Persicke was airlifted to St. John's Mercy Hospital in Creve Coeur where she was described as coherent. She was taken into surgery to repair internal bleeding, and later pronounced dead.

James Krewson, 76, was arrested for allegedly leaving the scene of an accident and manslaughter. Police say Krewson was driving the blue 2010 Dodge Caravan that struck the victim.

Persicke, a respiratory therapist, was training for an upcoming marathon.
