(KMOV) -- The St. Clair County Sheriff's Department cites overcrowding as a reason for a recent attack on two officers at the jail.
Last weekend, two deputies were injured trying to remove an inmate from a cell block who was threatening to hurt himself. Officials said the other inmates in the cell were refusing to let officers in.
Police said there are currently 105 violent offendors ranging from 1st Degree Murder to Armed Violence suspects in the prision.
The county is beginning discussions about jail expansion to relive the overcrowding.
