(KMOV.com) -- St. Clair County election officials say they’ve uncovered an organized effort to stuff the ballot boxes with fraudulent absentee ballots.
According to officials, the fraud could result in enough votes to sway the elections in several races.
Reportedly the race for Mayor of Alorton, Mayor of Washington Park and an alderman’s race in Centreville could all be affected.
Election officials pulled over 200 fraudulent applications for absentee ballots. On some, the signatures didn’t match those on file or the addresses given were vacant homes or vacant lots.
In other cases, legitimate absentee ballots were stolen.
