(KMOV) – A St. Charles man who used a stun gun on his wife during an argument at their home in July will spend 80 days “shock time” in jail.

Brian David O’Neill pleaded guilty to felony domestic assault in early February.

Authorities said O’Neil and his wife were arguing about a lost wallet at a home in the 3000 block of Blanchette Dr. on July 2 when he took out a stun gun.

Police said O’Neill tackled the victim after she tried to run away. He then pinned her to the ground and used the stun gun on her stomach, neck and thighs.

O’Neill was initially sentenced to three years in prison, but the execution of the sentence was suspended. He will now have to spend 80 days in the St. Charles County Jail and serve five years probation.

Authorities said he is also banned from talking to his wife.
