(KMOV) – The Better Business Bureau said more than 100 complaints were filed against an auto warranty company based in St. Charles County.

The company, Autoplex Extended Services is accused of sending out deceiving mailings to persuade people to buy vehicle service contracts, then refusing to cancel those agreements and return the money.

News 4’s Cory Stark went to the company and talked with a manager who said “We give people’s money back all the time that has nothing to do with anything.”

The manager then shut the door and told Stark to call the company’s owner, Keith Horneker.

He refused to go on record with his comments.

The BBB investigators say this business is only selling its services outside of the greater St. Louis area, attempting to stay off the local radar.

But similar mailings from other companies do exist in the St. Louis area and customers should be on the lookout.

They said Autoplex failed to respond to 18 complaints and the business has the lowest possible rating of F.
